Kamakura deity of fertility and children - Thu 29 Mar

This was a touching place to visit. I wrote a paper wish for Keiko and tied it to a wishing stand.

All of the little dolls represent deceased children.


Mothers of deceased children come to dress the statues in children's clothes.




The was a subterranean shrine tunnel network, with a ceiling so low that the Japanese visitors were crouching.
